Product Designer

Position Summary:

The Product Designer is responsible for creating user-centered design solutions that feature ease of use, employ best-in-class interaction design, and optimize user experience for our products. This includes all phases of the design process such as conceptual design/development (the big idea), UX flows/navigation, wireframes, graphic and UI design, prototypes, storyboards and art production.

The Product Designer will work closely with the CEO and Head of Product to establish and maintain visual integrity, interaction methods, brand standards, and consistency.

You will:

  • Take broad, conceptual ideas and turn them into functional and beautiful designs for our users
  • Quickly & iteratively Design lo-fidelity and hi-resolution flows and experiences that are simple and elegant
  • Contribution to technical implementation of UX
  • Contribute to high-level strategic decisions with the rest of the product and executive teams
  • Give and solicit feedback from team in order to continually raise our bar for quality
  • Partner with PMs, engineers, researchers and content strategists to oversee the user experience of a product from conception until launch (and then some)
  • Manage Design Assets
  • Conduct usability research and design validation experiments.
  • Analyze real-time feedback and metrics, and adjust designs accordingly
  • Work with product managers, developers and program manager to oversee the implementation of new features and systems
  • Ability to describe user experience stories and create wireframe screens and flows
  • Gather business objectives and project requirements from stakeholders
  • Show initiative in learning more about our customers and complex products
  • Develop low-fidelity wireframes to communicate design options and align on a solution
  • Communicate design decisions and respond to feedback from stakeholders
  • Create high fidelity designs informed by customer feedback
  • Collaborate with Engineers to create design specifications for implementation and ensure accurate implementation
  • Work collaboratively to improve design styles and components for use across the entire product
  • Demonstrate leadership by making this a great place to work.

Minimum Qualification:

  • Experience with front-end programming (you should be able to code up a somewhat complex web site and/or front end of an application-- HTML5, CSS3, JSON & some Android Material Design).
  • The ability to think at a high level about product strategy and vision (not just 'how it should look' but 'what we should build')
  • Experience in building and shipping applications or software
  • Must have a portfolio featuring examples of interaction design work & graphics that you specifically have produced
  • 3+ Experience with usability and interaction design research.
  • 2+ years experience with B2B / enterprise application design.
  • 3+ Experience with current Mobile (specifically Android) and Web design patterns.
  • Advanced in the following tools: Sketch, Illustrator, Invision, Mixpanel, Jira and Github
  • Excellent communication skills (you should be able to clearly articulate your design decisions along with final specifications)

Android Engineer

Position Summary:

The responsibility of the Android Engineer will be willing to pick up any of the languages, technologies, or methodologies necessary to smite a challenge—and if a conventional solution doesn't exist, they innovate as necessary.

The Android Engineer will work with the Product and Sales Teams as well as other key stakeholders to generate technical requirements and define system architectures and testing procedures.

You will:

  • Work within our mobile engineering team to build new features.
  • Work with our design and product teams to iterate on new features.
  • Implement well-thought and beautiful designs.
  • Ensure data integrity and validation.
  • Solve challenging offline and dynamic data problems.
  • Extend existing APIs and add new services as needed.
  • Write and maintain unit and integration tests.
  • Maintain a cutting edge knowledge of android development.
  • Work collaboratively with engineering, design, user experience, product and analytics teams to identify needs, evaluate requirements, and design and implement large software solutions.
  • Writes well designed, efficient and testable code in one or more Object Oriented languages. (C++, Objective C, Java, etc.)
  • Strive for expertise in software craftsmanship; able to collaborate with and influence peers in software design.
  • Provide domain expertise in one area of development such as native app development, rendering, user interface, AI, multi-threading, build and deployment, cross-platform development etc.
  • Solid understanding of algorithms, design patterns, debugging and performance optimization.
  • Update knowledge constantly. Always learning and seeking to learn.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience in design patterns.
  • Deep understanding of mobile debugging and testing.
  • Strong knowledge of Java.
  • Demonstrable experience with android. (2+ years)
  • UX design and development.
  • Native development on Android (Java & XML)
  • Expertise with turn-by-turn frameworks (Esri, Skobbler, etc.)
  • Server experience is a plus; for example, web service integration, application server performance, relational databases or data analytics.
  • Experience with geospatial data.
  • Projects/experience outside of android apps.
  • B.S./M.S. in Computer Science, Maths, Chemistry, Engineering, or Physics.

Position Summary:

The responsibility of the Senior Architect will be to define the overall technology strategy for the organization and to guide the evolution of the technical infrastructure. This requires an understanding of the context of the system and the goals and challenges of all users.

The Sr. Architect will work with the Product and Sales Teams as well as other key stakeholders to generate technical requirements and define system architectures and testing procedures.

You will:

  • Design, implement, and maintain data pipelines from initial ingestion to end-user consumption.
  • Provide a voice in systems architecture discussions.
  • Extend documentation for existing systems and document new systems.
  • Design first, collaborate, then code.
  • Lay out the initial patterns and tools for other engineers to use.
  • Building fault-tolerant, scalable systems
  • Understand guidelines to which systems must conform and increase flexibility, scalability and adaptability of systems within these guidelines.
  • Partner with engineering to ensure that requirements are fully understood and that development plans and work products meet requirements.
  • Support the release planning and roadmap process with Customer Success and Product Management based on interactions with customers and current and future users.
  • Interface with internal operations teams to ensure that feature and service plans support the day-to-day needs of operational teams.
  • Document, integrate, and support software deployment and troubleshooting activities; develop solutions and assist with triaging when issues arise.
  • Prioritize infrastructure projects and provide guidance for investment and design decisions.
  • Provide knowledge of vendor products and technologies as new components are introduced to the environment.
  • Coordinate with internal test teams to ensure that systems are fully and successfully tested end to end.
  • Anticipate organizational and IT changes and develop processes to allow additions and variations to infrastructure.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience in design patterns.
  • Strong knowledge of Java and Python.
  • Demonstrable experience with systems programming. (5+ years)
  • Experience writing maintainable tools and coding patterns for other engineers.
  • Strong knowledge of relational and document databases, along with their design tradeoffs.
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in Systems Architecture with a proven track record in a diverse array of projects; expert proficiency with designing and developing scalable software systems.
  • Full lifecycle experience including requirements gathering, analysis and design, development, testing, and deployment.
  • Understanding of UX principles and best practices.
  • High level of passion and motivation for learning new skills and keeping up with current technologies.
  • Flexibility and responsiveness to adapt quickly to changing customer and organizational requirements. Past startup experience is a plus.
  • Expert analytical capabilities and decision-making skills; experience dealing with poorly-defined problems and successfully analyzing and pinpointing relevant issues.
  • Top-notch verbal communication skills, ability to communicate technical issues in a clear, concise way.
  • Leadership and training experience, experience working with cross-disciplinary teams.
  • Ability to multitask with and coordinate among experts in disparate disciplines.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent experience; Master’s degree in same preferred.

Full Stack Engineer

Minimum Qualifications

  • 2+ years experience with Javascript.
  • 2 years of Node.js
  • 2 years of Relational database experience: (e.g. Postgres, Oracle, etc)
  • Agile/Scrum methodologies.
  • Backend experience with one of Javascript, Python, Java, Ruby, Perl, ...
  • Experience with Relational and Document-based Database Systems. (e.g. PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQLite, MongoDB, Redis, ...).
  • Experience with setting up Test Frameworks and Testing Web Applications.
  • Version Control (Git / Mercurial).
  • Proficiency in Bootstrap, CSS & HTML5
  • OAuth and security experience
  • Encryption technologies
  • Experience in AngularJS or ReactJS is helpful
  • Experience with Sockets and realtime technologies (Meteor, Derby)
  • Experience with KOA, Express or Meteor

Nice to have:

  • Experience with Front End web libraries such as React, Meteor, Angular.
  • Backend experience with NodeJS (KOA framework for NodeJS a plus).
  • Experience using Mocha and/or Chai for unit testing, and UI testing with Selenium.
  • ElasticSearch experience a plus.
  • Experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) like ArcGIS a plus
